Fungal Nails

Fungal nail.jpg

The nail can appear discoloured and thick. The longer it is left, the more it can spread and become harder to treat. The fungus infects the skin underneath the nail. This can cause the nail to crumble, thicken or detach off the nail bed.

At the clinic, a specialist nail drill can be used to thin the thick fungal nails down. This is a patient was very pleased with the results. Do not be embarrassed with this condition, it is treated every day in the clinic.

On a more serious note, fungal skin infections can cause celulitis which can lead to sepsis. 80% of people with cellulitis have a fungal infection on the skin. There is some connection between the two. 1 in 6 people over the age of 60 will have fungal nails.

There is a special patented technique for fungal nail infections called the Lacuna Method®, see below.

First appointment - assessment and treatment £35

Follow up appointments £30

The Lacuna Method is a effective way to treat fungal nail infections. The relatively new treatment is changing the way podiatrists deal with fungal nail infections. Every podiatrist must undergo specialist training to use this method. Tiny holes are drilled into the nail. This leaves the nail intact whilst the fungal infection grows out.

As shown in these photos the infection is starting to grow of the nail of this patient who came to my clinic.

Appointment cost:

One nail £50

Two to five nails £75

Six or more nails £100
